Iconic Texas Wildflowers
Jump to ListThe beautiful, wonderful wildflowers at the Plant Bat Habitat burst into vibrant color every spring in March or April, and persist into the summer. They come in three waves, the first dominated by Texas Bluebonnet and Indian Paintbrush, the second by Firewheel, and the third by Black-eyed Susan and Lemon Mint.
Pink Evening Primrose, Winecup, Prairie Verbena and Greenthread delight for months with their long bloom periods.
The tall Standing Cypress, with its attendant hummingbirds, stands out for its striking red flower clusters.
Our particular pride and joy is the breathtaking Texas Bluebell, Lady Bird Johnson’s favorite, and now unfortunately rare in the wild.
